Once upon a time, everything was green.
Years before, all creatures were alive, lively, and keen.
Everything and anything that young nature had touched,
Had bloomed, blossomed, and flourished so much.

But here came men, and then came wars,
Here came pollution that covered his sight of the stars.
Everything he saw was wrapped in black,
Everything good they had once, now they had lacked.

Nature was hurt, nature was killed,
By the sharpest knives that cause wounds that won’t heal
What was once green was now covered in smoke
Enclosing everything, including its hope.

“Oh poor, poor nature,” God seemed to say
“What has humankind done to you? What roles did they play?”
But nature was silenced by its own cries of loss
Now it was time for nature to boss.

Nature will get what it had once lost
Nature will take it no matter what the cost
Landslides, typhoons, and anything in between
Had been blessed to humans who made everything unclean.

Then it was time for humans to suffer,
Because natural disasters are not in their power
Heavy rains, typhoons, and disasters of nature,
Were what the humans viewed as something of torture.

Now, humans had time to seriously reflect
What needs repair and the bonds to resurrect.
They will redeem what they had done in the past
For they’ve foreseen the consequences that were to last.

Just when humans had tried to revive,
The mutual relationship that had never been alive,
From the past centuries when war seemed to exist
Peace and tranquility now they did insist.

If only humans realized a long time ago,
What war would bring them and how pollution would go;
But while at the work of restarting again,
They reveled at the present with the company of men.

Greening the planet and inspiring peace,
Are not tasks that can be put to action with great ease.
But it would be good, if no matter what it’d take
Humans would do anything, so that peace they could make.

This was a poem I wrote for the theme, “Celebrating Life: Inspiring Peace, Greening the Planet.”
